Despite spending all of my childhood in the Chicago suburbs, I found my adult self still living in the same area, mostly to be close to family.  It suited me fine, for the most part, until a trip to Yosemite National Park in 2006 changed me.  Traveling suddenly became a passion.  Wanting to share my love of the places I’ve visited, I started reviewing on Tripadvisor, but that wasn’t the right forum to allow me to express my opinions adequately. So here we are…

In addition to travel, I like to write about things I’m passionate about – whether it be health, gardening, home improvement, or something else I feel the need to share.

I’m a registered nurse (though not currently working), a mother of two daughters, and a tireless supporter of my hard-working husband.  I want this blog to be of use to people, to provide travel reviews, tips, and suggestions – not to read like a luxury travel magazine. Most of us cannot travel the world in luxury and may never see the other hemisphere. But for the world we can see, maybe I can just make someone else’s vacation a little smarter, a little easier, and a whole lot more fun.

Please note that all of my reviews are my own. Unless otherwise stated, I am not compensated at all for any of them.

Feel free to reach out and contact me at EscapingtheMidwest@gmail.com.

Happy travels!

Hi Julie,

I noticed that you tweeted one of my favorite topics, hiking and adventure recently. It’s funny; I actually have an article on the benefits of hiking coming out next week.

Let me know if you want a heads up when it comes out.

I have an idea for an article titled ‘Top 7 Essentials to Carry on A Hike’ for your website. I think your audience would love to read it.

Would you be willing to take a look at it?

If not, I can write on any other topic you require.

P.S: The post will be shared with my 37k followers on Twitter.

Hi Julie, I made a comment in the RDX topic and would like to remove my last name. Can you make that change? if it doesn’t work, can you remove my comment and resubmit a comment? Thanks!

Hi Lourdes, I updated your comment and removed your last name. 🙂
