My husband and I left the kids at the hotel one night with pizza for an adult escape and date night. We dined at Casablanca Cafe, a picturesque restaurant across the street from Ft. Lauderdale Beach. At night, the restaurant is bathed in a pink glow, beckoning those on the street to see what it has to offer.
With an option to dine inside or outside, we chose outside. I never did go into the inside of the restaurant, but I could hear live music playing. The outside seating was a little cramped, but as night fell, the candlelight and soft lighting created a cozy atmosphere.
Our service was very good. Sometimes, while dining outside, you can feel unattended to. This was not the case here. Our waiter was very helpful and accommodating. Our food was also served relatively quickly.
The only vegetarian options here are on the starters/salads menu. No item on the regular lunch or dinner menu was non-meat based. They serve two salads, a hummus dish, a phyllo wrapped brie plate, and side dishes. Due to the limited vegetarian menu, I shared a salad and had side dishes for dinner. Not an ideal meal. However, the food was tasty and fresh. Their key lime pie was delicious, and this comes from a gal who doesn’t care for key lime anything!
The romantic ambiance the Casablanca Cafe offers is particularly nice. Lots of restaurants along A1A have live music and dim lighting, but it seemed cozier here and somehow more private. Despite it being a popular restaurant, I didn’t feel like we were being pushed out, in order to accommodate more patrons.
Overall, my husband and I had a delightful date night. I’d recommend Casablanca Cafe, especially to meat and seafood eaters and those who enjoy Mediterranean cuisine.
