The Woes of the Middle Seat – How the Seat You Choose Affects Your Travel

There’s been a lot of talk lately about airline seating. In the news, airline manufacturers are patenting increasingly more ridiculous seating arrangements to fit as many people as possible into airplanes.  (Read about these new patents at CNN and the Washington Post and see image below.) Why? People are not cattle. We should not be packed onto planes for airlines to profit as much as possible (and neither should cattle, but that’s an entirely other subject matter.) I understand it’s expensive to run an airline, but there has to be a certain level of…

Scattering Ashes and Saying Goodbye

I was only 29 when my Mom died.  Mom was 58.  Ovarian cancer had finally taken her after a 2 year fight.  She died suddenly (at least to me she did) – from not feeling well, to being hospitalized, to a first mention of hospice, to her letting go, all within hours.  Being a mother of a 5 year and a 2 year old at the time, I was in shock.  Having little ones, I depended on my Mom occasionally, for simply a trip alone to Target or a night away from the kids. Visiting Starbucks Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room in Seattle

OVERALL GRADE – A This summer in Seattle, I visited the Starbuck’s Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room located at 1124 Pike Street in the Capitol Hill District.  The pride and joy of Starbucks, this place is truly a unique experience. And I loved it! When we walked in, I was a bit overwhelmed.  It was a gorgeous building, with tall ceilings, wood tones, and shiny metal catching my eyes.  My senses were overloaded watching the moving conveyor belts, the smells of coffee, and the sounds of coffee beans hitting roasting pans.  The giant display board featuring the coffees…

The Underwater World of Hawaii

Hawaii is such a beautiful place to scuba dive. Perfect temperatures, clear water, and sunny skies make diving here ideal.  Last year I was fortunate enough to go snorkeling at Hanauma Bay. The first frame has photos from here. The rest of the photos are from our dives in Maui – Turtle Town in Makena and boat dives at and near Molokini.  Having a GoPro allowed us to capture these fun moments, especially with our kids. If you are ever in Maui and want to go scuba diving, check out B&B Scuba in Kihei.  Don and Kelly were…
